informatics
from various secondary schools in Agstafa. The training
was initiated together with CI 1996 alumnus Hasan
Huseynov and head of the Akstafa Department of the
Ministry of Education, who assisted in the involvement
of teachers from the schools and arranging premises
for conducting trainings. The trainings took place
every Saturday at Akstafa rayon computer center, courtesy
of Akstafa community members. Before the trainings,
the teachers had only theoretical skills in informatics,
but couldn’t utilize a computer due to lack of hands-on
experience, albeit some schools were already equipped
with computers. During the trainings the teachers
learned computer and Internet basics, MS Word program,
and prepared handouts to teach acquired knowledge
students at their work. As a result of the training,
the teachers are launching computer trainings for
pupils. Inspired by successful trainings, Akstafa
Department of the Ministry of Education is planning
to purchase some more computers for those schools
that doesn’t have one and sent a thank you letter
to IATP in order to express gratitude to IATP for
conducting such a useful training. Lala Efendiyeva,
the secondary school teacher noted: “Prior to the
trainings, I was afraid of touching a computer and
thought that it was very difficult to work on it,
but now I can say that there is nothing impossible,
the most important is to have wish. Thanks to the
training organizers for empowering us and enabling
to improve our lessons”. |
