| Ganja Education Information
Center (GEIC) is one of a number of Education Information Centers
created and supported by Open Society Institute in post-soviet
countries, committed to providing information about international
education opportunities. It was created on February of 1999.
The center has university catalogues and guides, test preparation
materials, CD-ROM databases on study abroad. |

Main
activities of GEIC
|
Providing the visitors with
all information, scholarships, training, courses, conferences
available from Internet, E-mail, different institutions.
- Advising individuals as well as groups on any matter related
to education abroad.
- Helping the students to contact and communicate with institutions
abroad.
- Promoting Soros Scholarships and programs in Azerbaijan
- Assisting in promoting American Government, Foreign Embassies
scholarships and also scholarships of international organizations
ACTR/ACCELS, IREX,AED,DAAD and others.
- Providing bulletins and information about dates and places
of TOEFL, GRE,GMAT and SAT exams, giving CDs for preparation
for computer based tests.
- Organizing lectures with guest speakers from abroad on different
issues concerning education and culture in other countries.
- Organizing lectures and workshops on various topics: how to
write a statement of purpose;filling out application forms,
write reference letters and transcripts; the research and grant
opportunities for scientists.
- Presentation movies in English.
- English Conversation Club.
- English classes.
- Newsletter “ Chinar “ in English.
- GEICs library possesses wide information about education in
the USA and Europe as well as preparation materials for TOEFL,
GRE, GMAT,SAT exams, with video and CDs available.
- Providing Internet Access for the visitors of GEIC. The Internet
Center possesses 11 terminals with more than 900 visitors. Center
provides Internet training.
During the existence of Ganja Education Information Center,
by assistance of 2 NGOs, operating in Ganja, 30 grants were
given to individuals. Ganja people participate in “East-East”
programs and also in different education programs. There is
also a dissemination of “Step by Step” program.
